At my Window: Hollyhocks and Symbolic Totems

All summer long
you were at my window

 like a quiet poem
enchanting the realm
of my courtyard garden

you told stories to the sun and myths to the moon
whispered to moths and angels and stars

You chanted summer's prose in pink essence
and shared sleepy secrets next to the green leafy gods

all summer long you sang at my window
the summer has come and gone
Autumn has swallowed you
And a Wintery Realm soon comes
to take your Wings
and send away the Songbirds

but the ghost of you will remain there
your memory shining
from the veil
as I look out my window
and wait for your Return.

Spring will rise with the promise
of new souls and blooms
I will wait for a new world,
I will wait for the spirit of you.

HOLLY HOCKS
Every summer I enjoy the beauty of HollyHocks.
To me..they are Quiet Messengers of the garden.
Magical,
Youthful,
Spirited
and even Whimsical
These gentle giants adorn any space and bring it Charm and Poetry.
They bring back a Time of Simplicity
and Carry the Spirit of Gratitude and Joy,
and pureness of heart.
Friendships Bloom where Hollyhock grow.
*

At My Window
This year..one grew beautifully near my window..
This felt like a Special Sign,
a reminder everyday of the Poetry of Life,
the Magic waiting to be seen ,
the beauty of the outside world saying come and play, come dance in the garden..see what I see!
What did HollyHock wish to show me?
It is wonderful to feel in tune with the spirit of plants,
your space and the magical message they lay at your feet.

*
Symbolic Places and Totems
Notice where special plants grow..
*
Windows
My special messenger was at my window..
Windows are magical symbols.
Windows can respresent  perception, and vision, eyes to the soul.
They can ignite clarity and point you to new ways of thinking
and new consciousness blooming.
Windows can lead us to new Worlds
Windows can carry messages of widening perspective, world view
seeing more clearly, expanding your awareness
noticing what is on your horizon
Expanding your Dreams.
Embracing the journey right infront of you
"The focal point" to align your awareness
and to pay attention to at the time...
To embrace the magic of life
*
Symbols will mean whatever you feel is true for you

What you see through the window
is even more symbolic.
This feathery tower of Hollyhock was dancing at my window every day
pointing me to Joy  and freedom
and like a Floral Wand or Arrow.. it was constantly reaching
in the direction of the Sun  and Sky above.
Reach for your dreams...
HollyHock Spirit was offering me an Invitation...daily!
Plants will do that!

Do you Recognise Plants
Speaking to you?
So..how about any of you?
Think back...
Did any special plants ADORN
any special spots or areas..and get your attention?
doorways..steps..windows..trees
special places that mean something to you?
*

Have you ever found a plant suddenly growing
that never could before!
Or a plant that grows in abundance..
or a certain Color..pattern..
all are messages for you.
*
Or a special plant given to you by a loved one
that grows at an important time etc
*

Messages
from
Across the Veil
*
One of my friends had a beautiful plant that came to surface and bloom
after the passing of someone she loved.
She planted it years before, given to her by this loved one. ..and it never took.
So when it surfaced and bloomed the following year after she died..
she felt that  it was a special gift from her loved one!
*
STRAY SUNFLOWER
Another special story...after my sweet dog died and was buried...
a beautiful Stray Sunflower grew atop where she was buried.
What a wonderful gift!
*

Many magical experiences happen in this way!
This is how plants speak to us!
They may be offering you an Invitation of sorts..
connecting you more with nature
offering you a sign
or offering certain  energies and qualities for your life
or also can be directly related to what you are experiencing at the time.
You will simply know!
*
Hope you had some magical experiences this year too.
Feel free to share your plant magic and stories!

Oh Kiki that was wonderful and I especially loved it because Hollyhocks have been my favorite since I was a little girl and first set eyes on them. I favor the old- fashioned ones, so vintage and proud little beauties! Have a lovely Thanksgiving Kiki!

What a beautiful post. I've thought about how a certain plants end up growing in places that they would normally never grow. I recently found a row of Foxglove seedlings growing along a back fence, I can't wait to see them blooming outside the window next summer.

I can feel so much joy in this post. :)

Hollyhocks are one of my husband's childhood favourites. I think you have convinced me to try them. Also, you have reminded me of the importance of having flowers growing up around your windows. Lovely!

I sometimes feel the breath of plants. I love that you listen to them, as well. I have such joy and thanks in my heart that I know you and your poetic soul. My pink hollyhock outside my window is from my favorite Aunt who passed on when I was a teen. She loved all things faerytale, pink, magic and light. I miss her this Thanksgiving. Thanks for this post and all the wisdom you put into it. It is special as are you. Blessings, Amy

Kiki girl that was wonderful .. You always word your love of nature so profoundly matching your emotions which are always wonderfully still in awe of what is a series of miracles with plants, stones, crystals ..
I always had that capacity when I was a child playing in the woods or on a quiet beach that had very few people on it .. it was all magical to me .. this reminded me of those times.
Thank you : )

Flowers have such a positve influence on us and those of us fortunate enough to have and care for a garden know their power. Your poetry and photos are a delight Kiki!

lots of interesting things to ponder here. I do know the fragrance of a tea rose brings me back to my childhood in a split second. It's quite amazing how fragrance does that. Certain plants remind me of my mother-in-law (who passed away). Not necessarily the plant itself, but she used to buy herbs from the vitamin store and I can still hear her pronounce things her certain way.

Your hollyhocks (and the building behind it) are lovely!

Sorry I am so late to visit Kiki...our computer died and we had to get a new one...your hollyhock is beautiful, and I love the symbolic story of your friend - nature always manages to send me messages of hope and healing when I most need them, whether it's through the plant or animal world. So comforting...I hope you are enjoying your weekend my dear friend x

Thought provoking Post Kiki.... Lovely pictures of the Hollyhock by your window. Never thought Plants could communicate with us in sooo many ways.

Hi, Kiki;
I am loving this idea of planting a hollyhock that will peek through my window as she grows taller and taller. Must give that a try next summer! :) Many plant magic stories are associated with my old hollyhocks. These heirlooms grow about 15 feet tall, creating a flowering forest for little girls with big imaginations.

Such a beautiful post, Kiki. I talk to plants and am a tree hugger - so I always enjoy whatever is outside my window in every season! :)
Wishing you a joyous day,
Zuzu

Thank you so much for this beautiful post Victoria :) It brings back memories of a wonderful lady who used to live opposite us and would secretly plant flowers and bulbs in our garden whenever she ran out of space in her own! She was a very talented artist (painted the Queen many, many years ago) and had a great eye for colour. Her hollyhocks are now taking over :)
Many blessings,
Pam

Hi Kiki...thank you for coming over so quickly!!! Perhaps you might get to try some of this chocolate cake...you wouldn't know it's gluten free!!!
Yes I believe plants talk to us...we have an orchid here that belonged to my Grandmother who passed 20 years ago...my Sister gave me this very special orchid 2 years ago...and blow me down, on our daughter's birthday the orchid bloomed and bloomed and bloomed...I believe this was my Nanna saying hello from across the veil...Blessings to you Dzintra♥x
