Kiki's Drift-Folk
Hand painted souls..
Find some driftwood...and paint away..
Give it a try..
Every year I get in this whimsical mood.
My child-like spirit leads the way.
and I paint whimsical, rustic characters.
I call them Drift-Folk.
Some of the characters are universal like
Wizards and Gnomes and Faery-Folk..
Wizards and Gnomes and Faery-Folk..
some are festive like
Old World Santas
Old World Santas
some are more symbolic
like Archetypes ,
of Myth, Folklore, Angels and Saints
and also Magical Tarot figures.
| Magical High Priestess Riding a Gargoyle She brings Wisdom and Empowerment |

| Wizard-Gnome He brings Wisdom and Protection to your space. I love the natural bend in his hat! |
Here is a collection of some I have painted over the years.
They are all charming souls in their own way.
It is fun to do with children as well
and create their own characters.

Anyone else paint driftwood out there?
What are you creating lately?
Any one else with a whimsical soul from time to time?
Awake with Charm and Spirit

( I'll update a new post soon, as I know any of the pictures are quite blurred)

Hi Kiki! I don't paint driftwood (no talent!), but I have one Santa made from a piece of driftwood. He is different and it makes him special. I love your creations! Wonderful!
Hi Victoria. What a lovely surprise finding your latest post - and, in to do with driftwood, one of my favourite things! What a great suggestion of yours to allow our creativity to flow and paint a driftwood character. I might even just try that, although I don't know whether I'd have any success. Your drift-folk are wonderful ;)
I have an owl made by a Zimbabwean artist - out of driftwood. He allows each piece to guide him and has done some amazing work.
Dear Kiki, these are so lovely, and special. You are so talented and creative! I love the idea...but don't have any driftwood around here. I like to paint and will keep it in mind for 'down the road'! I'm not a talented painter, like you, though;-) Happy holidays to you.

Kiki, your talent blows me away! These are so gorgeous! A few years back, Abby and her friend created a whole family out of wood which they drew faces on and dressed in dolls clothes - they were called 'Woodlands' and they had so much fun playing with them, and making little movies with them...I just adore childrens' imaginations...and it seems that yours is alive and well x

Nice looking gnomes! You have inspired me.
Wow, your drift-folk are fantastic! I love how you've incorporated the natural features of the wood in each one - it adds even more to their character and wonderful expressions. You've inspired me to dig out my paintbrushes again :)
Many blessings,
Pam
Kiki, you and Dorthe from Den Lille Lade blog are the driftwood queens. :-) I love these! I've never painted on driftwood. Lately, I've been painting on boxes and little cabinets and anything that doesn't move. ;-) I just bought a bunch of blank boxes today to get my hands on with paint!
Hugs, Diane
kiki, these are so amazing! i just love them all! the high priestess and the wizard gnome are fabulous!
i think my favorite is the bunny.

Oh you are so talented! If I could paint like you I would paint all the time. I love how the top part of the driftwood becomes the hat (or ears).
These are so gorgeous, Kiki! You are so creative, and talented.
Wow Kiki, you are really a very gifted artist! They are magnificent indeed. They will surely be wonderful special gifts for special friends for birthdays or Christmas. Do you still refine the wood as in cut or polish to shapes you like? There are lots of driftwoods here along the beaches especially after a strong typhoon. I love all of them.
very inspiring... I will look for some driftwood next time I visit the seaside... thank you for sharing this idea
Kiki they are fab, I love them. Great idea.
Kiki your drift-folk are beautiful! I would never deface driftwood as I'm artistically inept, but your painted driftwood folk are just so creative and charming! I especially love the rabbit! What a fabulous idea.
Kiki, these are so charming! Every one of them has personality. Talented lady, you are. :)
you took me to another world ... How to transform the simplest of the pieces in the most charming beautiful majestic creations is beyond me.
