I also just love basil, it is definitely my favorite herb. I've got lots of seedlings started to plant outside if it ever warms. My goal is to make lots of pesto to freeze. Last summer I had a pot of it on our back deck and my little one would snack on it while she played.

You've been working your magic again, Victoria, to once again produce a simply charming post. I, too, love basil, but you've elevated it to godliness for me, here! Superb pictures (as always...with you, it almost begins to become chiche!) I need to study up on a whole new set of adjectives before I visit again, else it sounds as though I'm just repeating my time-worn enthusiasm. Far be it from that...each time I come here, I'm left with a wonderful sense of calm and gasping at the sheer beauty of it all.

Basil has always intoxicated me. I like to press the fresh leaves right to my nostrils and breathe deeply with an eye roll of ecstasy. :)
Nothing compares to the scent of fresh basil, and if i had to grow just one herb...yup, it would be basil.
Your herb garden is beautiful, but then again, I expected nothing less from such a lovely person...

Ahh, Basil. I can just smell it! We Italians do love our Basil! And eating it fresh off of the plant...divine! I love all herbs, but Basil holds a special place for me, too. Have a blessed weekend :)
What beautiful photos!! I love all herbs (my favorite is lemon rose thyme) but my husband is crazy for basil -- he loves making pesto. He's asked me to plant an entire deck full of it this summer! Visiting you from Cottage Flora Thursday...
At first, the copper and green basil was a stunning sight of texture and contrast. Then, the basil kept appearing and I could smell it, touch it. And next the basil leaves were being crushed to make pesto, and I could smell the aroma and taste the salty yummy pesto...ah-hh-hhh.
I love Basil, and even if I didn't grow it for cooking I'd grow it as an annual ornamental.
Basil is a must have herb. I use it in cooking all summer and feel deprived in winter without it. My absolute favorite herbs are rosemary and lavender, but wait... lemon thyme makes me smile,and...I love them all.
Mmmmmmmmm . . . basil . . . :) This makes me want to plant some herbs. :)

Hello, Kiki. Basil grows so well in my herb garden. Like you, I think it is a favorite of the bees. My garden herb of choice is cilantro. In the south, because it is so hot, a version of cilantro, culantro, grows best. It is relatively the same. I, too, find myself walking around the yard, nibbling on the various herb plants, edible plants and off the fruit trees.
My Mom and I can't wait to see if the chives are up. We run out together at her home and see if those strong, delicious, shoots are up! In Wisconsin it is the first sign of the Spring to come for us. We giggle and eat it right there in the yard like children embracing the fun! This post was so lovely, friend. So lovely. Thanks and blessings.
Just yesterday I added "plant basil seeds" to my to-do list. Such a wonderful herb. I love many of them. One of my favorite herb flowers is soapwort, such a spicy and sweet scent. You've got me craving some fresh basil for sure!

Ah you have inspired me yet again to rejuvenate my herb garden. It is warming now and time to clean, renew and grow. Basil has such a rich warm aroma and comforting taste. Your beautiful photos stir the imagination!
I adore Basil too... right now I have Sweet Basil and Thai Basil growing in my Garden from seed, which is the only way it seems to do well in a Desert Garden and endure our heat.
I'm also growing several varieties of Mints, Lavender, Dill, Oregano and Rosemary in our Herb Gardens. I love cooking with fresh Herbs, but often I'll plant an Herb I won't use for cooking... just for fragrance and enjoying it's Herbal Beauty.
Your Garden seems to be way ahead of mine this Season, my Basil is just now peeking it's head above soil, but it looks promising again this year. Love your Copper Dish!

Oh I forgot to include my Cilantro and Italian Parsley! I LOVE Cilantro in cooking... and Italian Parsley makes the best Tabouli!

Hi Kiki, i am amused when you say "when there's basil there is pesto", haha! I love its aroma, but i still prefer rosemarie when it comes to their scents. However, not for eating though. Rosemarie is very soothing and calming for me.
Oh yes...give me Basil too...that aroma - so evocative and fresh - even better with red tomatoes plucked from the garden...beautiful xxx
Hi, Kiki!!! Once again, soul sister, Sage is my absolute favorite. It turns an ordinary meal into something so much more. And I had no idea the spiritual energies associated with it. Yummy! One day, I long for my own herb garden.
