Gardening to me... is a Form of Natural Meditation.
Whether we realise it or not, we are connecting Within... and naturally moving into a beautiful meditative space Within and Breathing with Nature's Essence. We are weaving and creating and tending to the Garden's Spirit..we are working with nature and our Inner Nature ...and in that special relationship we can become deeply peaceful, joyful and even infused with harmony.
When I am in my garden, I take much joy in it...every bit of it. I love to work with nature's body and care for the plants I have added..and also the one's that the land has chosen and decided should be there..I like to work in harmony with nature and honor the space. I think of Gardening as a co-creative act with honor and respect for the space, the land and creatures...
Gardening is Beyond Time and Space...
we shift within that magical veil
and are never the same...
where does time go when we garden?
It seems to vanish..
and yet we bloom like the flowers
when we get caught up
in the beauty of creating!
*
I think all gardens are natural portals?
do you? haha!
They seem to swallow us up for a time..
then let us go when divine.
*
I always come back from gardening..
feeling recharged and in harmony..and joyful!
Yes,
A garden can do all that!
*
When we garden...time can shift and even bend...
We may not even know how much time has passed or where we have gone in the meantime...we are just so focussed and in "deep connection".. that we are ONE with the garden.
While we garden beautiful things happen to our body, mind and spirit...it can change us, evoke new energy and bring us to life and also bring healing qualities to us....we also can symbolically align with the healing metaphors of gardening..and look at our life at the time..and see how the garden /how nature in general is speaking to us.
Gardening is Natural Meditation...because we become quiet and still , sometimes even deeply relaxed and we become awake in the now space..naturally aligning with the powers of nature. We are actively creating with the qualities of harmony and building something beautiful and weaving that essence into our body, mind and spirit.
Gardening is transformative!
We are participating in the Sacred Space of Nature..and as we become emersed in this act of creating ... a meditative state naturally begins to take over. For me gardening is meditation on all levels...it invokes balance and healing and new energy. I also see it as a Powerful Metaphor....a Universal Meditation of taking care of the earth...and honoring that space.
If you find gardening brings you calm, peace and harmony....wonderful!
Even the Garden is
IN Meditation
Iris in Prayer Pose..
On the verge of Bloom..
How powerful is that!
If you know me by now..I in awe of nature..the child spirit in me is awake and I truly appreciate the tiny things..like a flower on the Verge of Awakening..pretty exciting stuff!
But like the Iris in Prayer Pose..it is the most exciting moment..it is about to finally open all of it's beauty to the sun and sky..free and fully awake..
I love the prayer pose stage even more than the bloom...but that's me..I love the journey..it is not always the destination right?
So every flower is a meditation..
every leaf...plant..bug ..weed....
all is purposeful and valuable..
all wonderful meditations you spend time with.
The garden can also be a Space of Meditation...a focal point or area you use for that purpose.
Simply looking and gazing at your garden and just absorbing it's beauty...is highly meditative.
Creating a space for meditation is also wonderful too.
Here is a recent Stone Table I created made with left over old patio stone pieces..a great way to never waste anything left on the property.
The legs of the table are not that attractive.. but perhaps some Magical Moss growing over to cover it will be perfect.....for now..it is great way to make use and recycle these old pieces.
You can create magical structure with anything..it could be a small bench.. a pedestal for a planter or statue..a table...or a stone chair..it seats me perfectly..
It was also quite meditative building this..Have you created any special areas in your garden?
This is perfect for an outdoor Sitting Space , Meditation Corner , Nature Altar , A Stone Table for earth magic , nature festivities...prayer corner..whatever you like..
For now this isa tribute to stones..
This large flagstone slab..is pretty big...and is super- heavy
.....and needed something just as strong to support it for now..
maybe I'll find something nicer later for a base....
For now...it is the Perfect timing
for Midsummer/ Summer Solstice coming up
and it will make a great Dedication Space to work on..
The Whole experience of gardening to me is a meditative experience
..we are tapping into a sacred ancient space within
and creating with the forces of Nature
I love gardening as meditation!
Do you?

What a beautiful and renewing post! You always fill our eyes with gorgeous sights, our minds with gentle appreciation of the wonder around us, and our spirits with a rekindled energy to the world we share...
It is like a vacation for my soul when I visit here!
Thank you :)
I really enjoyed your post! I have always considered gardening a form of therapy. It takes my mind off of things that are bothering me or gives me a chance to not think at all, just "be".
Oooh Kiki, what a gorgeous post!!! I love all of your words and images, and I agree with you completely. How wonderful that you included a blue bloom in your post, the Iris in Prayer Pose is striking. I also have blooms that I prefer before opening, I find them more interesting and beautiful sometimes. Your new table is GORGEOUS, and I think the legs are perfect. I have been looking for the perfect garden bench, and if I can find a suitable piece of flagstone I might try to create something similar. I'm glad you are enjoying your gardening days, they really are revitalizing.
I love gardening too, but I do not have the green thumb that my Mother did. I just love your post and your stone table that you made.
The purple color of that iris is breathtaking! Only nature can create such spectacular colors as that! I love your stone slab altar, and the legs look fine!
How I yearn to have a garden of my own. I live in an apartment and having potted plants does not compare to having a piece of earth of your own to stick your hands in.
Victoria!! That little bird named Jeeves, is he wild? Does he sit in your hand like that? How precious! Would love to hear more about him. :)
Hugs to you, kindred.
This is a lovely post and I so agree with you about gardening being a natural meditation - time passes unnoticed when I'm working in my garden.
Dear Kiki
I think a garden is always a magic place...I would be happy living for ever in a garden...
Love
Just beautiful photos Kiki and I agree 100%, my garden is my refuge and my salvation some days. I am never so happy or at peace as when I am weeding!
Have a wonderful gardening day!
Tina xo
You have articulated so perfectly the feeling I get from being in my own garden! Your posts always speak to my soul and connect with me on a deep level, noon more so than this one. It is a beautiful post as only you know how to put together.
None more so...
Kiki, Mother Nature's magic certainly resides in your garden. How beautiful! I love the sentiments expressed in your post and agree with them wholeheartedly. Right now, I am healing from a minor surgery and am sitting out in my garden everyday. It's the best place to be! xo
I too feel the gardening is meditative. It brings me joy and peace, and enhances my well-being. I love your new table/bench/altar! Great recycling!
I, too, lose track of time when I garden and it is so refreshing because usually I am such a clock watcher.
Your photos are beautiful!
I like your bench, it a great example of re-purposing!
Hugs,
Rosey
Wow, your garden is such a magical space!! Every detail seems to be laid out with love! Love the slab and the way you laid it out. Gardening does do so much for our spirits and the Spirit of Nature...may you be surrounded by beauty!
such a wonderful post and very timely for me as I am off to our garden centre this afternoon to get some more plants for my garden
hugs Sara
We are kindred spirits in the garden! I have always found gardens to be magical and healing. I have had moments in the garden where I have felt completely connected to the Earth and myself...to All that IS.
Having my hands in dirt?.......bliss.
To gaze at the flowers and greenery is so peaceful and grounding. Gardens have their own magic, a combination of all the energetic vibration of each plant, rock, and soil, and all living creatures seen and not seen...all creating a magical field of fertility, creativity, healing and peace.
Your photos reflect your gardens pure magic! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!
Hugs,
Terri
your garden is beauteous! a meditation in every petal and leaf, so very soothing and inspiring.
I have always used mindfulness to become part of the moment of doing something and fully engaging. For instance, when drinking tea or coffee, fully become aware of all aspects of the preparation, pouring, and drinking without thinking of something else. Just be present, its a great exercise and then return to the breath when needed.
